Description
Students in this "COOP / Internship" program develop specialized English language skills relating to their career field through a combination of English classes, a Job Skills Seminar and a period of full-time work training in a Canadian company. Work experience is usually unpaid although paid internships are available in special circumstances. Placements can be made in a number of fields including: banking, finance, accounting, media, fisheries, event management, travel, hospitality, IT and sales.

Description
Students in this "COOP" program improve their English language skills through a combination of English classes, a Job Skills Seminar and a paid work practicum in a service position in a Canadian tourism, retail or hospitality company. The English Co-OP Program has two program options: the Basic Service Option and the Full Service Option. The Basic Service Option is designed for students who want to be involved in the process of sourcing their work practicum with help from Tamwood. The Full Service Option is designed so that the student is placed with well established Tamwood approved host employer. Employers include ski resorts, hotels hotels, restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, tour operators, sports providers, summer camps and much more. Jobs are assigned on a first-come, first serve basis so apply soon to get the most options for your practicum!

Course University of Cambridge FCE Preparation

Duration 8, 10 or 12 weeks

Description
This course prepares students for the University of Cambridge ESOL First Certificate (FCE) exam, which students take in the final week of the program. The FCE is at Level 3 of the Cambridge five level system.

Through a balanced curriculum students will expand and reinforce their knowledge of the various skills they utilize in writing the 5 papers set by Cambridge. Practice Exams and compositions are an integral part of the program.

Students in the 8 week course join the 10 / 12 week course in
progress.

Description
This course prepares students for the University of Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English exam, which students take in the final week of the program. Description

This program is based on speaking, reading, writing and listening all in a defined format, and it counts on 25 or 30 lessons/week classes. Tamwood IELTS focuses on identifying weaknesses in student’s skills and building those skills, and offers a lot of practice in test taking, and feedback on the results.

Description
Combines specialized classes in International Business English communication skills and concepts with optional general English language skill workshops. This course is designed to give students the English skills they need to work effectively in today’s global market place. English skills and vocabulary are developed through exercises, case studies, role plays and research on business topics including: I.T., finance, accounting, marketing, advertising, sales, negotiation, business practices, and cultural comparisons in business operations and appropriate grammar. Visits to businesses may be arranged during the course. Students should be ready for a significant amount of reading and research in the course.

Description
EAP will help you improve your academic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. You will be able to read and understand materials and you will learn to speak and write English fluently. When you complete the EAP course, you can improve your English for academic purposes skills more by taking the University Preparation Certificate course (UPC).

Course 2 University Preparation Certificate Course (UPC)

Description
The UPC course is a continuation of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course. Advanced ESL students who have reached Tamwood Level 6 or 7 or who have passed the EAP course can register in the University Preparation Certificate course.

In this course, you will work on: IELTS exam preparation for university or college admissions requirements, critical thinking skills, essay writing of 1000 words or more, exam preparation, project teamwork, presentation skills, academic study and research skills and how to adapt to cultural and academic life at North American universities and college.

  • By enrolling in EAP and UPC together, you will fully prepare yourself to meet the admissions requirements for North American colleges and universities.
  • All EAP and UPC students will receive personalized academic advising and university admissions assistance from a Tamwood Pathway Advisor throughout your program.
  • You may receive conditional acceptance at one of our partner colleges and universities upon and completion of the Diploma program.
