English + Internship Program
Course: English Internship Program Lessons/Week: 20, 25, or 30 lessons per week of English classes 4 hour Job Skills Seminar 20-30 hours/week work practicum Entry Requirements: Intermediate to Advanced English Minimum age: 20 Duration:minimum 8 weeks, maximum 56 weeks. Description Students in this "COOP / Internship" program develop specialized English language skills relating to their career field through a combination of English classes, a Job Skills Seminar and a period of full-time work training in a Canadian company. Work experience is usually unpaid although paid internships are available in special circumstances. Placements can be made in a number of fields including: banking, finance, accounting, media, fisheries, event management, travel, hospitality, IT and sales.
Course: English Coop Program Lessons/Week: 20, 25, or 30 lessons per week of English classes 5 hour Job Skills Seminar 20, 25 or 30 hours/week work practicum Entry Requirements: Intermediate to Advanced English Minimum age: 19 Duration:minimum 5 months (shorter options available in summer) Description Students in this "COOP" program improve their English language skills through a combination of English classes, a Job Skills Seminar and a paid work practicum in a service position in a Canadian tourism, retail or hospitality company. The English Co-OP Program has two program options: the Basic Service Option and the Full Service Option. The Basic Service Option is designed for students who want to be involved in the process of sourcing their work practicum with help from Tamwood. The Full Service Option is designed so that the student is placed with well established Tamwood approved host employer. Employers include ski resorts, hotels hotels, restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, tour operators, sports providers, summer camps and much more. Course University of Cambridge FCE Preparation 25 Lessons / week FCE classes Entry Requirements Middle Intermediate Minimum age: 17 Duration 8, 10 or 12 weeks Description This course prepares students for the University of Cambridge ESOL First Certificate (FCE) exam, which students take in the final week of the program. The FCE is at Level 3 of the Cambridge five level system. Through a balanced curriculum students will expand and reinforce their knowledge of the various skills they utilize in writing the 5 papers set by Cambridge. Practice Exams and compositions are an integral part of the program. Students in the 8 week course join the 10 / 12 week course in progress. Maximum Class Size: 12 
University of Cambridge CAE Preparation
Course University of Cambridge CAE Preparation Lessons/Week 25 lessons / week CAE classes Entry Requirements Upper Intermediate Minimum age: 17 Duration 8, 10 or 12 weeks Description This course prepares students for the University of Cambridge ESOL Certificate in Advanced English exam, which students take in the final week of the program. The FCE is at Level 4 of the Cambridge five level system. This exam is an important certification for students who want to work overseas in jobs that require English language skills (such as medicine, business and engineering). Through a balanced curriculum students will expand and reinforce their knowledge of the various skills they utilize in writing the 5 papers set by Cambridge. Practice Exams and compositions are an integral part of the program. Maximum class size is 12 students.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Exam Preparation
Course IELTS Preparation Lessons/Week 25 or 30 lessons / week Entry Requirements Upper Intermediate Minimum age: 17 Duration 4, 8 or 12 weeks Description IELTS is taken by over 1 million people each year for academic, professional and immigration purposes. It is recognized by more than 6000 institutions in over 135 countries around the world. This program is based on speaking, reading, writing and listening all in a defined format, and it counts on 25 or 30 lessons/week classes. Tamwood IELTS focuses on identifying weaknesses in student’s skills and building those skills, and offers a lot of practice in test taking, and feedback on the results. Maximum class size is 15 students.
Course International Business English Lessons/Week 25 lessons / week Entry Requirements Intermediate to Advanced English Business Experience or prior university level business studies Minimum age: 20 Duration 4 weeks, with Fixed Start Dates (See current price sheet for dates and fees) Description Combines specialized classes in International Business English communication skills and concepts with optional general English language skill workshops. This course is designed to give students the English skills they need to work effectively in today’s global market place. English skills and vocabulary are developed through exercises, case studies, role plays and research on business topics including: I.T., finance, accounting, marketing, advertising, sales, negotiation, business practices, and cultural comparisons in business operations and appropriate grammar. Visits to businesses may be arranged during the course. Students should be ready for a significant amount of reading and research in the course.
Course English for Lawyers Lessons/Week 25 - 35 lessons / week Entry Requirements Intermediate to Advanced English Minimum age: 21 Candidate is currently practicing as a lawyer or judge or has completed a min. of 3 years of law studies at university Duration 2 weeks Description For lawyers, law students, judges and officials. Course combines specialized seminars on important legal skills with general English classes and legal visits. Seminar topics include: contracts, international arbitrations and mediations, drafting skills, legal research skills and negotiation skills. Features instruction by Canadian lawyers with many years of teaching experience.

Course 1 English for Academic Purposes Course (EAP) Lessons/Week 25 or 36 lessons per week of English classes Minimum Entry Requirements High Intermediate (Tamwood Level 5) Duration8 - 12 weeks, depending on English level at time of entry to program Description EAP will help you improve your academic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. You will be able to read and understand materials and you will learn to speak and write English fluently. When you complete the EAP course, you can improve your English for academic purposes skills more by taking the University Preparation Certificate course (UPC). Course 2 University Preparation Certificate Course (UPC) Lessons/Week 25 or 36 lessons per week of English classes Minimum Entry Requirements Low Advanced (Level 6-7) or finishing the EAP course Duration 12 weeks Description The UPC course is a continuation of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course. Advanced ESL students who have reached Tamwood Level 6 or 7 or who have passed the EAP course can register in the University Preparation Certificate course. In this course, you will work on: IELTS exam preparation for university or college admissions requirements, critical thinking skills, essay writing of 1000 words or more, exam preparation, project teamwork, presentation skills, academic study and research skills and how to adapt to cultural and academic life at North American universities and college.
