ACTIVITY INSTRUCTOR  
Summary of Position
An activity instructor for a Tamwood International Summer Camp program is responsible for organization and delivery of one of the camp activity areas. They must contribute to the overall staff team and look out for the safety of all campers. Essential duties and Responsibilities
  • Primarily responsible for the planning and delivery of a specific camp activity area.
  • Creates a program that is creative and appropriate to each individual group.
  • Executes all programs using accident prevention and safety management models.
  • Submits lesson plans and daily logs to the Director for review.
  • The daily professional upkeep of the activity sites and the equipment storage areas; identify any equipment which needs repair or adjustments and inform the Director; keep storage areas tidy and ensure all equipment returned to where it belongs.
  • Equipment inventory control, repairs, care and management.
  • Promotes the English only policy.
  • Administers first aid as required.
  • Performs various duties as required.
Tamwood Activity Instructor shall not:
  • Possess or Use alcohol or drugs for the entire duration of their summer contract
  • Entertain guests in their accommodation
  • Smoke on camp property, during "on duty" periods, or near campers
  • Demean or humiliate any child or staff on the basis of race, religion, nationality, skin color or abilities
  • Allow campers into their room or be in a campers room with a closed door
  • Unlawfully remove camp equipment or supplies
Qualifications Must have experience with children in the areas of programming and instruction. Students with experience in the field of education are preferred. Must acquire first aid and CPR certificates. Camp experience is an asset. Waterfront Instructor: CRCA Certification in Canoe and Kayak instruction and a class 4 driver’s license (operation of a 15 passenger vehicle) Camp Lifeguard/Counselor: National Life Saving Certificate and a class 4 drivers license (operation of a 15 passenger vehicle) Adventure Program Instructor: Certification in Rock Climbing, Experienced Mountain Bike Instructor, Wilderness first aid, class 4 license. Athletic Program Instructor: Coaching levels, Phys Ed degree an asset, Ability to teach basketball, soccer, volleyball, football, tennis and ultimate. Creative Program Instructor: Experience in the visual arts, theater, music or dance and a firm knowledge of child and adolescent development. Contract Terms The contract runs from July 1st, 2010 until August 16th, 2010. Full room and board is provided. Each week staff will have a 36 hour period off each week, as well as 3 hours off per day.
