HEALTH ATTENDANT  
Summary of Position
The Health Attendant for a Tamwood International Summer Camp program is responsible for the care and safety of the students whom become ill or injured while at camp. They will also be required to do some light administrative duties and manage camper health forms. Essential duties and Responsibilities
  • Administers first aid and care to injured and ill campers.
  • Provides emotional support to campers that are homesick.
  • Supervises the students that are withdrawn from the program for disciplinary reasons.
  • Management and upkeep of all camp first aid and medical supplies.
  • Accompanies students to local health care centres when necessary.
  • Completion and management of camp incident and medical report forms.
  • Entering medical information in the database, if required.
  • Daily professional upkeep of the infirmary.
  • Is available for 24 hr on-call emergencies while on duty.
  • Performs various duties as required.
Tamwood Health Attendant shall not:
  • Possess or Use alcohol or drugs for the entire duration of their summer contract
  • Entertain guests in their accommodation
  • Smoke on camp property, during "on duty" periods, or near campers
  • Demean or humiliate any child or staff on the basis of race, religion, nationality, skin color or abilities
  • Allow campers into their room or be in a campers room with a closed door
  • Unlawfully remove camp equipment or supplies
Qualifications Candidates must be an upper level nursing student or have obtained a high level of first aid with experience in emergency response, experienced in working with children and youth, possess a valid drivers license, Standard First Aid and CPR certification, strong references, Candidate must provide a criminal records check to Tamwood. Assets include fluency in a foreign language, experience at a residential summer camp, and the ability to return to the position in subsequent summers. Contract Terms The contract runs from June 25th, 2008 until August 18th, 2008. Full room and board is provided. Staff will have a 36 hour period off each week.
