COUNSELORS IN TRAINING (CIT)  
Summary of Position
A Counselor in Training, also know as a CIT, for Tamwood International Summer Camp program will assist in the care and safety of a group of Tamwood campers. They must contribute to the overall staff team and assist in looking out for the happiness and well being of all campers. Essential duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with the safety and supervision of a specific group of campers and adherence to the daily schedule.
  • Assist with the whereabouts of a counselor group 24 hours per day.
  • Support program delivery of evening programs and project periods as assigned to you.
  • Promotes the English only policy and reinforces the incentive program.
  • Participates and assist in camp excursions as required.
  • Attends all meetings as scheduled by Senior Staff.
  • Assists with night and on-call duties twice a week.
  • Administers first aid as required.
  • Facilitates the integration of campers.
  • Informs all campers about camp events and schedules.
  • Attends all meals while on duty and supervise campers.
  • Airport pick up and drop off as required.
  • Helps to facilitate camp banking days.
  • Completion of accident and incident report forms as required.
  • Active participation in pre and post camp periods.
  • Wears the camp t-shirt at all times while on duty.
  • Performs various duties as required.
Tamwood Camp Counselor In Training shall not:
  • Possess or Use alcohol or drugs for the entire duration of their summer contract
  • Entertain guests in their accommodation
  • Smoke on camp property, during "on duty" periods, or near campers
  • Demean or humiliate any child or staff on the basis of race, religion, nationality, skin color or abilities
  • Allow campers into their room or be in a campers room with a closed door
  • Leave the camp property unless you have permission from the director or it is your scheduled time off
  • Unlawfully remove camp equipment or supplies
Qualifications Candidates must have experience working with children preferably in a summer camp setting, Standard First Aid and CPR certification, strong references, Candidate must provide a criminal records check to Tamwood. Assets include fluency in a foreign language, Class 4 drivers License, and the ability to return to the position in subsequent summers. Contract Terms The contract runs from July 1st, 2010 until August 16th, 2010. Full room and board is provided. Each week staff will have a 36 hour period off each week, as well as 3 hours off per day.
