Hey, I’m Matheus, from Brazil. I had been in Tamwood for about six months. It seems like a long time, however, I feel that was not enough. Here I could improve my English, my personal skills and made a lot of amazing friends and awesome memories. I came to Tamwood feeling insecure because my English was not so good and I was really shy and scared about how it would be to meet new people from all over the world with different cultures. But after I arrive in Vancouver and started to speak with the other students and the teachers I noticed that would be the best opportunity in my life.
Since I arrived here I tried to make friends with people from different countries and cultures to practice my English and also learn something about their cultures. I had a lot of good experiences in Canada, which includes some trips. My first trip was to the Rocky Mountains, which is an amazing place, with lots of beautiful lakes and mountains. I also rented a car to go to Whistler and Seattle with a couple of friends. Was a really nice drive in a different country. On the way to Seattle something really interesting happened. We were stopped by the police because I was driving about 30 KM above the speed limit. It was like in American movies (ahaha) and the best part was we didn’t get a ticket.
About food, in Canada, you can try Poutine, which is French Fries with cheese, gravy sauce, and sometimes bacon. It’s really good and my new favorite food! Now it’s time to go back home and finish my university. It’s hard to say goodbye to the people I met here and for this amazing city! But I hope I can keep in touch with all my friends and someday come back to Vancouver!
