Montreal Camps at Concordia University
Are you ready for the diverse culture and rich history with European charm?
Let’s plan your visit to Montreal!
Montreal is a bilingual (English and French) hub of culture and history. It is considered Canada’s third-largest city and the second-largest French-speaking city in the world. Montreal offers an amazing number of attractions, events, and festivals, making it a vibrant and cosmopolitan summer camp location. Tamwood’s Montreal summer camp is located on the campus of Concordia University. The campus covers four square kilometers in the heart of downtown Montreal, close to St Lawrence River, Old Montreal, markets, museums, and many other famous sites. The location of this campus makes it a very safe and attractive choice for international campers.
Campers attending the Tamwood Summer Camp at Concordia University will do a variety of structured, cultural, recreational, social, and sightseeing activities each week. These activities, events, and excursions can be grouped into four categories—Day Time (Creative, Sports, Teambuilding, or STEAM), Evening, Excursions, and Optional.
Please refer to our weekly schedules for the Montreal Camp to see which activities and excursions are offered each week.
Concordia University has two campuses set approximately 7 kilometres apart. Sir George Williams Campus is the main campus, located in downtown Montreal, and Loyola Campus is in the residential district of Notre-Dame-de-Grace.
Campus recreation facilities include a gym, ice hockey arena, indoor gymnasium and multi-purpose sport fields.
All meals are served at Concordia Loyola Cafeteria located close to the residence. Residential campers receive 3 hot meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner). Meals include 1 main, 2 sides, dessert, and a drink (ex. Chicken, Fries, Salad, Cookie, and Juice). Homestay or self-arranged campers receive only lunch. A lunch box meal or restaurant meal are provided on full-day excursions for all campers.
Concordia University has a modern residence building with 1-2 beds per room with shared washroom facilities. Campers will share a room with another camper of the same age from another country.
There will be around the clock care by Tamwood live-in staff and campus security. Security key cards are required for entry to the building and to the student rooms.
Laundry service is provided once per week (included in the camp fee).
Old Montreal is easily the most popular must-visit attraction in Montreal. When you walk the cobblestone streets of its oldest district, you will find beautiful boutiques, small galleries, restaurants, and kitsch souvenir shops. Looking up to the well-preserved French colonial buildings, you will feel transported back to the 17th century with its pointed spires and brick-lined exteriors. Old Montreal also offers the most prominent public squares of the area: Place d’Armes, Place Royale and Place Jacques-Cartier, as well as the impressive Château Ramezay residence. All worth a visit and a quick photo-op!
La Ronde is the perfect destination for all thrill-seekers and amusement park enthusiasts. Containing 146 acres and 40 rides, it is considered the largest amusement park in Quebec and the second-largest in Canada. In addition to ten rollercoasters that will surely spike your adrenaline, La Ronde organizes seasonal events like the popular Fright Fest with scary activities for young and old around Halloween and Canada’s #1 firework competition—L’International des Feux Loto-Québec—lighting up the Montreal sky in the most magical colours. A trip to La Ronde will surely turn out to be the highlight of your summer camp schedule!
Whether you want to escape the busy city life for an afternoon or have sweeping views of the Montreal skyline below you, Mount Royal Park offers you a popular outdoor recreation area. On a clear day in summer, you might even have a glimpse of the Adirondack Mountains in the United States. Walk the shadowy forest paths, have a picnic on the luscious green, or listen to musicians camping out on the hill. In the winter, you can hit the rental place and go skating, skiing, or sliding – all without ever leaving the city!
