General Counsellor

Job Summary
General Counsellors are primarily responsible for the safety, security and well being of a group of Tamwood campers. Counsellors attend, participate and deliver camp programming and ensure campers are happy. This position does not involve staff supervision.

Reporting Structure
General Counsellors report directly to Senior Counsellors and report indirectly to Coordinators, Camp Director and to Head Office.

Desired Qualifications

  • • College diploma or undergraduate degree studies or relevant experience with children
  • • Prior experience working with or supervising children
  • • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and within a team
  • • Ability to maintain enthusiasm and energy for long durations of time

Work Performed

  • • Responsible for a managing a Counsellor Group (a group of campers)

  • • Generates and maintains camper enthusiasm for English classes, activities, and other special events

Senior Counsellor

Job Summary
Senior Counsellors are responsible for ensuring all camp programming is of high quality, is executed safely and meets directives from Tamwood Head Office. This position is responsible for the direct supervision of General Counsellors.

Reporting Structure
Senior Counsellors report directly to the Camp Director and indirectly to On-Campus and Off-Campus Coordinators and to Head Office, also works in collaboration with the Office Administrator, Activity Instructors, and support staff.

Desired Qualifications

  • • College diploma or undergraduate degree studies (Human Kinetics, Education or Recreation Management) or 2 – 3 years relevant experience
  • • Experience with teaching or coaching children ages 7 to 17
  • • A minimum of two years experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • • MS Office experience
  • • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including telephone and email correspondence
  • • Ability to maintain accurate records and attention to detail
  • • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and within a team

Live-in Activity Instructor

Job Summary
A Live-in Activity Instructor’s primary role is to plan and deliver daily activity programs (ex. Creative, Athletics, Adventure and Waterfront). Instructors are also responsible for the safety, security and well being of all campers participating in that specific activity. This position involves indirect supervision of General Counsellors assisting with the activity. Live-in Instructors secondary role is to assume the responsibilities of a general counsellor position when required. As a General Counsellor they will attend, participate and deliver camp programming and ensure campers are happy.

Reporting Structure
Live-in Instructors report directly to the On-Campus Coordinator and report indirectly to the Off-Campus Coordinator, Camp Director, and to Head Office.

Desired Qualifications

  • • Coaching or Instructor certification preferred
  • • Experience with teaching or coaching children within the age range of 7 to 17

Off Campus Coordinator

Job Summary
The Off-Campus Coordinator is responsible for all off-campus activities including transportation, trip logistics, vendor relations, and execution of camp programming. This position also involves overseeing the staff and ensuring that the camp program is delivered accurately and effectively.

The Off-Campus Coordinator reports directly to the Camp Director and to Head Office and works in collaboration with the Camp Administrative team including other Coordinators, Counsellors, Instructors and support staff. This position involves staff supervision.

Camp Director

Job Summary
The Camp Director is responsible for the following key areas:

  • • Responsible for managing all safety procedures and ensuring the safety and security of all campers, group leaders, and staff
  • • Responsible for overseeing the successful execution of all daily operations
  • • Developing the staff team dynamic while ensuring all staff adhere to Tamwood policies and procedures
  • • Main contact between Tamwood Head Office and Camp personnel
  • • Other responsibilities as required

Reporting Structure
The Director reports to the Camps Manager at Head Office and works in collaboration with the Camp Administrative team including Coordinators, Director of Studies, Counsellors, Instructors, and support staff. The Camp Director is responsible for the supervision of all camp personnel.

Desired Qualifications

  • • Undergraduate degree or relevant experience in recreation management or educational leadership
  • • A minimum of two years experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • • Previous Tamwood or summer camp experience an asset
  • • Proven ability to delegate responsibility and coordinate a staff team

Director of ESL Studies

Job Summary
The Director of Studies is responsible for the following key areas:

  • • Responsible for overseeing the successful execution of the English program
  • • Responsible for overseeing and monitoring teacher performance, including staff evaluations
  • • Teaching English classes when necessary
  • • Main contact between Tamwood Head Office and teaching staff

Reporting Structure
The Director of ESL Studies reports to the Camp Director and works in collaboration with the Camp Administrative team including Coordinators, Counsellors, and support staff. The Director of ESL Studies is responsible for the supervision of all ESL teachers.

Desired Qualifications

  • • Undergraduate degree in Education or other relevant discipline and ESL teacher training
  • • A minimum of two years experience in a leadership or supervisory role
  • • Previous Tamwood teaching experience an asset
  • • Extensive experience working with children and supervising staff

First Aid Attendant

Job Summary
The First-Aid Attendant is primarily responsible for the health and safety, care, and comfort of all Tamwood campers. The First-Aid Attendant is part of the Tamwood staff team and assists in other areas outside of camper health when required. This position does not involve staff supervision. This position reports directly to the Camp Director and Head Office as required. Tamwood operates 7 award-winning summer camps in North America and is looking for live-in First-Aid Attendants in:

Requirements

  • • Minimum of advanced first aid/ wilderness first aid/ or working towards a nursing degree
  • • Prior experience working with and caring for children
  • • Ability to maintain accurate records and superb attention to detail

Office Administrator

Job Summary
The Office Administrator is responsible for all financial transitions and accurate record-keeping, as well as general administration. The Office Administrator will be responsible for in-house banking, camper arrival and departure process, administering policies and procedures, working closely with the camp director to administer the petty cash system.

Reporting Structure
The Office Administrator reports directly to the Camp Director and to Head Office and works in collaboration with the Camp Administrative team including Coordinators, Counsellors, Instructors, and support staff. This position is not a supervisory role.

Desired Qualifications

  • • Undergraduate degree or relevant general accounting course work or experience desired
  • • Experience with accounting software such as Microsoft Money, Quicken, or Quickbooks
  • • MS Office experience (advances excel and word) and knowledge of financial processing procedures

Camp Scheduler

Job Summary
The Camp Scheduler is stationed at Head Office in downtown Vancouver to support the logistics of all 7 junior centres. The Camp Scheduler is responsible for planning and implementing logistics relating to airport transfers for campers and staff, including all transfers which happen outside normal transfer hours and days. The Scheduler is also responsible for creating camper info lists (including medical information, birthday lists, group lists, etc.) and tracking down any missing information for each week of camp. The Scheduler reports directly to the Camps Manager and/or Camps Directors. This role carries a high degree of responsibility and requires meticulous attention to detail, as the incumbent is charged with the safety of students during transit to Tamwood camps locations.

Schedule
The scheduler will work normal business hours (9-5pm) Monday to Friday prior to camp. During the camp session, the schedulers hours will reflect the need of camp but will remain 40 hrs/week in a schedule similar to the one below:

Sunday: 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
Monday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Tuesday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Wednesday: Day off (coincides with camp excursion)
Thursday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Desired Qualifications

  • • Undergraduate degree or pursuing university or college course work
  • • At least 2 years of previous leadership experience
  • • Proficiency in MS Office, learning new software and working with complex data and spreadsheets
  • • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to multi-task in a busy office environment
  • • A proven ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team
  • • Excellent ability to plan, organize and execute logistics
  • • Fluent in written and spoken English; other languages are a bonus

  • • Responsible for obtaining accurate information from a variety of sources and inputting camper details and related airport transfer information into ESL School Manager software
  • • Responsible for producing preliminary transfer reports and sending to the 7 camp locations
  • • Briefs the Director and OFC on airport pick up sheets
  • • Confers with the OFC regarding bus scheduling, bookings, availability, capacity constraints for the transfers and ensures that transportation is used effectively and efficiently
  • • Assigns each camper to a counselor group at each campus
  • • Produces a weekly camper birthday report to the Camp staff
  • • Sends a weekly report to the Camp Director on special notes, such as camper dietary issues, medical needs, room requests, family visits, special drop off and pick up requests
  • • Submits final Camps Scheduler Report at the end of the summer
  • • Produces other reports as instructed by Head Office
  • • Adheres to all Tamwood rules, policies, procedures, and directives

Tamwood International is an award-winning group of private companies operating language schools, careers colleges, summer camps and work programs in Canada and the USA.  Headquartered in Vancouver, the company recruits international students from around the world largely through its network of overseas representative partners.  The BDM for Brazil (Sao Paulo and Southern Region) is responsible for managing our B2B sales in the region and has a mission to grow business through identification and sales to new agent accounts and increasing business with existing agents.  This position requires a lot of travel to meet partners and attend sales events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trains Tamwood’s study abroad partner agencies’ sales force in the territory.
  • Plans daily-weekly-monthly customer contacts and prospecting strategies.
  • Makes daily sales contacts with customers and prospects through appointments, drop-in, telephone, and e-mail.
  • Cold calls and follows-up to develop prospects and customers.
  • Develops accounts through relationship building
  • Produces estimates and quotes
  • Ensuring that the Tamwood customer relationship management database is current at all times by logging all activities, future tasks, opportunities and contacts
  • Implements consultative and solution selling strategies
  • Attends business-to-business trade shows and industry conferences
  • Ensures timely reporting of Sales activities and results
  • Maintains current all records and tasks in CRM

Qualifications:

  • Residing in Sao Paulo
  • Education: Diploma in Business or Sales preferred
  • Experience: at least 2 years in B2B sales, preferably in education
  • Proven success in growing sales significantly for a B2B sales company
  • Proven commitment to past employers – we will only consider applicants who have the ability and intent to commit to this job for at least two years
  • Comfortable with foreign cultures and international travel – estimated time on the road is 12 weeks a year.
  • Experience with MS Office and a Client Relationship Management program, ideally Salesforce.
  • Knowledge of social media and web-based training

The Whistler Campus Coordinator and Student Services role is stationed at our Whistler Campus and is responsible for the smooth operation of the Campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer service for our students that exceeds their expectations including answering questions and resolving CX issues
  • Liaise with the Tamwood student Co-op department as students transition from classroom terms to work terms;
  • Liaise with and provide support to the Tamwood Business Development team and management team;
  • Complete and submit all related payroll and paperwork and administration for Tamwood ESL and Careers;
  • Facility management – oversee orderly appearance and ongoing quality of the facility, schedule repairs and maintenance as necessary. Ensure ongoing quality and inventory of all facility assets;
  • Student management, counselling and programming. Promote a positive caring atmosphere, supervise weekly activities. Run weekly Intake and Graduation and complete associated paperwork. Ensure all students are being treated fairly and equally. Maintain high expectations for all Tamwood students;
  • Account management – collect funds as required from students, submit reports to accounting department

Qualifications:

  • Confirmed accommodation in Whistler or the surrounding area
  • Completed University Degree
  • TESL, CELTA or other ESL certifications are an asset
  • Minimum 10 years of full-time employment with supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Detail-oriented and extremely accurate
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Outgoing, confident and self-motivated.
