Orientation

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Canada!

Whether you are a travel expert or it’s your first time in North America, your first days in Canada will surely be very exciting. Your Canadian adventure starts once you have slept off the worst of your jet lag and familiarized yourself with your accommodation.

Our Tamwood staff wants to make sure that you are well-prepared for your course start and will welcome you to the Tamwood campus with lots of information and tips and tricks on how to successfully organize your new life in Canada.

Things You Should Know

What do I have to bring for my first day at school?
Make sure to bring your passport, work, or study permit (depending on which one you have). Also don’t forget a pen, paper, and something to drink – we have water fountains on campus and you can always buy a beverage or snack nearby, but it might be handy to have your own water bottle.

What will my first day at Tamwood look like?
Language students
On your first day at school, you will be welcomed by our Tamwood staff and it is made sure that you have all the necessary documents. Afterward, you will take a 1-hour written Placement test (either online or in-person) and a short speaking assessment. Together with a representative of Club ESL, you will go on a short neighborhood tour to get to know your surroundings. When you return to school, you will have your orientation with our Campus Manager. Your first class will start after the lunch break. When you return to school, you will have your orientation with our Campus Manager. Your first class will start the following Monday. You are also invited to join a Living and Working in Canada orientation the next Friday and three valuable workshops the week after (Resume Writing, Job Hunt, and Interview Skills).
