About the Programs

Business skills built for a changing world

Learn the skills you need to succeed in business management in an international context. You will explore a broad range of business basics and management fundamentals, including global business, workplace communications, finance, marketing, human resources, international trade and project management.

The program develops effective management skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, communication, organization and leadership. Special emphasis is placed on the communication skills required to succeed in Canadian and international workplaces and to lead in an increasingly multicultural and technology-driven environment.

Important: Tamwood Careers programs are not eligible for Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP).

Vancouver Campus

Admission requirements

These requirements apply to both the 1-year diploma and 7-month certificate options.

Education
High School/Secondary School Diploma or higher education.

English language proficiency

Applicants may demonstrate proficiency through one of the following four options.

Secondary education in English

Submit evidence of completing three years of full-time secondary education (Grades 8–12) in a country where English is one of the principal languages.

Post-secondary education in English

Submit evidence of completing two years of full-time post-secondary education in English in a country where English is one of the principal languages.

Languages Canada pathway

Submit evidence of graduation at the required grade or level from a Languages Canada accredited program with a current pathway or articulation agreement allowing direct entry, without further testing, to a diploma or degree program at a Canadian public institution.

Recognized standardized language test

Submit valid, official evidence from a PTIRU-approved test or assessment taken within the last two years.

Practical Application

Co-op and Capstone

Apply what you learn through workplace experience or a substantial academic project, depending on your program option.

1-Year Diploma

Co-op

Diploma students complete a co-op work placement after the study term. Positions are typically entry level, helping students build experience from the ground up. Tamwood's work placement coordinators provide job-search assistance, connect students with employers and continue supporting them throughout the program.

7-Month Certificate

Capstone

The Capstone Project is an academic project in which students select a topic connected to their studies and field of work. The project is submitted as a final written report or presentation.

Through the process of selecting, researching and completing the project, students practise valuable workplace skills sought by employers.
