Work While Studying at Tamwood Careers

Living abroad can be costly but as a Tamwood Careers student, you may be eligible to work in Canada while studying.

Part-Time Work

Earn money while you study a career training program to help with living expenses. No matter which career training program you’re in, your Canadian study permit will allow you to work part-time (20 hours per week) during the study term and full-time (40 hours per week) during your term breaks.

Tamwood Careers offers workshops, hiring fairs, and tools, like a Hot Jobs List, to assist you in finding work fast. Most students find entry-level jobs in hospitality, retail, or tourism and earn an average of $16.25 CAD per hour (minimum wage is $16.55 in Ontario and $16.75 in BC).

Go International Work Placement Services

Through Tamwood’s partner company, GO International, students can secure their part-time job and co-op work experience. Tamwood will monitor and assist when needed during your work term.

Co-op Work Experience

480-Hour Co-op

Students in a Tamwood Careers Diploma program must complete a 480-hour co-op education work experience to graduate from their program. You will start your work term on completion of your six-month study term. You have up to 24 weeks in which to complete your 480 co-op work hours. Students typically do their co-op work experience in an entry-level position at a company in a field/industry related to their field of studies as these jobs allow you to develop communication, culture, professional and personal skills to make you more work-ready. Jobs are mostly entry-level positions in Toronto, Vancouver, Whistler, and resort areas of BC and Alberta.
