New York Camps at Fordham University

There’s never a dull day in the city that doesn’t sleep.

New York is known as “The Big Apple” for being one of the most famous cities in the world. Is the home of Broadway performances, one of the tidiest parks in the world, and big exclusive shops and museums that makes this city so attractive for tourists.

Over the years, New York has been on top of the most popular destination in the holiday season coming from all around the world to spend their days exploring Central Park, The Statue of Liberty, going on top of The Empire State Building, or just walking around the city that never sleeps.

  Campus Features

Tamwood’s summer camp is located at the University of Fordham in New York City. It is situated in a residential area close to the New York Botanical Garden and the Bronx Zoo. Its central New York location makes it the perfect place for this summer camp which is so rich in green spaces to make outdoor activities.

Campers attending the Tamwood Summer Camp will do a variety of structured, cultural, recreational, social, and sightseeing activities each week. These activities, events, and excursions can be grouped into four categories—Day Time (Creative, Sports, Teambuilding, or STEAM), Evening, Excursions, and Optional.

  Student Fitness

While staying at the Rose Hill campus, campers will have access to the following:
Rose Hill Campus Facilities:  Group fitness classes at the Ram Fit Center.

  Campus Eats

All meals are served at Rose Hill cafeteria located close to the residence. Residential campers receive 3 hot meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner). Meals include 1 main, 2 sides, dessert, and a drink (ex. Chicken, Fries, Salad, Cookie, and Juice). Homestay or self-arranged campers receive only lunch. A lunch box meal or restaurant meal are provided on full-day excursions for all campers.

  Accommodations

Rose Hill residence has 2-3 beds per room with shared washroom facilities. Campers will share a room with up to two campers of the same age from another country.

There will be around the clock care by Tamwood live-in staff and campus security. Security key cards are required for entry to the building and to the student rooms. Fordham University security is stationed at the entrance of the residence from 10 pm to 6 am.

Laundry service is provided once per week (included in the camp fee).

City Attractions

central park

Central Park

It is the fifth-largest park in the city by area, covering 843 acres, and the most visited urban park in the United States. You can find a high variety of vegetation and range from flat grassy swards, gentle slopes, and shady glens to steep, rocky ravines. Central Park is a great place to go for a walk and get interesting vistas at nearly every point.

From scenic trails to secret historical relics, there are more than a dozen hidden gems found throughout Central Park.

If you are looking for costumed characters and marveling at their increasingly audacious outfits, love the electricity, the edginess, the sheer massiveness of a big city, and want to spend a cool summer time this is your place.

It’s the home of the largest LED display in the world with over 50 billboards. Times Square is a major commercial intersection, tourist destination, entertainment center, and neighborhood in midtown Manhattan in New York City. It is formed by the junction of Broadway, Seventh Avenue, and 42nd Street. Also, there are hundreds of Broadway plays and musicals in the area that makes this place be the best to find great music.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

Art is a very important part of history as it shows how people were connecting and what was relevant in the past. This museum has more than 2 million pieces of art spanning much of the history of human culture that became a treasury of rare and beautiful objects.

The museum is famous as a home of renowned paintings, but it houses much more, including such items as porcelain, musical instruments, historical artifacts, costumes and even armaments.
